In Hanover, the main project partner is a community-based organization for health promotion, Landesvereinigung für Gesundheit und Akademie für Sozialmedizin Niedersachsen (LVG & AFS) e. V. . More about LVG & AFS can be found here.
The focus of EMPOW Hanover is on women’s health, women’s rights and family health of refugees. The working group consists of women who are refugees from Afghanistan, Iran and Jemen. They have created a peer network for health promotion among refugee women (in Farsi and Arabic).
So far, more than a hundred women in the Hanover region have been connected via social media. The group provides peer support and shares its own videos on health-related topics . They also organize first-aid training courses (especially for families and children) in shared accommodation for refugees, and an online German course for refugee women.
